Treasures of the Rub’ al Khali

Treasures of the Rub’ al Khali. Rings in white, yellow and rose gold.

The ancient trade routes which led through the Arabia Felix (Flourishing/Happy Arabia), with nearing Silk Road and legends of the Lost City of Ubar (Atlantis of the Sands), are a potent source for imagination.

Treasures of the Rub’ al Khali is a collection of jewellery objects inspired by the dunes of the Rub’ al Khali (Empty Quarter), the sand desert of the Arabian Peninsula. The forms follow free-flowing shapes of the vast territories of the wind-created sandy landscapes. Ever-flowing, ever-changing, unattainable and passing.

Treasures of the Rub’ al Khali. Silver.

Passages of time in relation to the landscape, captured in ever-changing sand dunes are a great fascination of mine. I work on a series of body objects that try to reflect on and mimic those transitions. The rings are done in gold and silver. It is an ongoing series.
